Freedom and Legalized Marijuana

"Eat's a free country, you can do what you want!" Is the latest running joke in my favorite noontime show Eat Bulaga. Despite its hilarious intent especially when given an Americanized accent; it still presage a special political statement. It deals with an illusive and abstract terminology--Democracy, Freedom and Liberty. So are we really in a Free Country?
Compare our Freedom with America, or to Japan...our liberty isn't that liberating after all. For example; homosexual Filipino would have a better chance in marrying same sex partner if they travel abroad because they will surely be beaten by the general outcry. Besides, although live-in partner are rising in numbers here, they are still generally considered not a blessed union.
Filipinos are perhaps the most badly wounded people due to culture shock when they reached the 21st Century. Recently, Manny Pacquiao had his share of attacked when he expressed his very Filipino views. Even our beauty queen had these share of defeat overseas when they get to the Q and A portion...

I just wonder how our people would react if one of our Lawmakers proposes the Legalization of Marijuana?  That ain't far from happening, since in the US there are already number of people lobbying for legalization of raw cannabis. Generally, Filipino politicians are just borrowing legislature from there American or British counterpart.

Mike Smith, an Atheist who had just recently qualified as a Democratic candidate for George House District 69...and if get elected, there would be cheers echoing on every marijuana users out there.
"The failed war on drugs is the lynchpin of the Republican party's Southern strategy, which was designed to trick white Southerners into voting against their own interests," Smith said. "With the legalization of marijuana, we can increase tax revenue, close expensive for-profit prisons, and use the savings to improve the education of our children."
Hmmmm...frightful?! Apparently, an economist from Harvard, Jeffrey Miron did credible research to ascertain that if the United States government were to legalize Marijuana, they would save about $7.7billion yearly.  Apart from that, another $6billion could be saved if the United States government decides to tax the drug according to the same rates as cigarettes and alcohol.

Filipinos would of course easily call it blasphemy like the one they label on Lady Gaga's song Judas...but nevertheless still would be too curious to actually make her concert jam-packed. Who cares if she worship the devil, they just love her song. Anyway, even if the the general outcry of Filipino is "Holy Holy Holy" or we are a Christian country...in reality, the action paint a different landscape.

I bet Obama will have no problem identifying on legalization of marijuana as seen on this photo, where he sniff and exhale...
A forthcoming biography on President Obama is making headlines, with new details about the President smoking marijuana with his teenage friends in Hawaii.
So who cares "Eat's a free country, you can do what you want!!!"

Why do the nations rage,And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break Their bonds in piecesAnd cast away Their cords from us.” -- Psalms 2:1-3

Here's a site which deals on everything cannabis: http://www.tokeofthetown.com/

  1. Some doctors are good, they give you a recommendation only after asking a few questions. Without a doubt, california medical marijuana card is misused by people who just want to get high. Those who get a card and they must not indulge in a frequent use of marijuana, or they will probably experience some problems.
